The "Coaching an Apprentice for Success" workshop will be run on Thursday, June 7th.
Most supervisors or apprentices simply have this role thrust upon them as they are the longest serving member of staff or the most senior member of staff. Quite often it is forgotten that this person does not have any formal training as a supervisor nor do they understand many of the requirements of being a supervisor of an apprentice.
Key Factors behind these programs are:
A capable supervisor/coach can make workplace training meaningful and enjoyable for both the supervisor and the apprentice.
Appropriate supervision is a legal requirement under the industrial arrangements, the Apprenticeship Act and the training contract.
Workplace supervisors are in a key position to maximise the success of training and therefore ensure the supply of skilled staff for the future.
30% of apprentices/trainees leave their apprenticeships/traineeships within the first 6 months; this is an enormous cost.
