Nathan Nguyen

Certificate 3 in Automotive (Mechanical Technician)

Group Training Northern Territory

Nathan is employed by Group Training Northern Territory and is hosted by MTU Detroit Diesel Australia. Starting his apprenticeship in 2007, Nathan is viewed as a leader by his host on the worksite as he is happy to put his hands up for more responsibility. Currently Nathan acts as a workplace mentor for the other apprentices. His commitment to his apprenticeship extends into all areas with near perfect scores in his theory studies. The type of work Nathan undertakes can be very demanding on his personal life with frequent trips away from the home base to undertake the tasks, without complaint. Nathan’s understanding of industry and the bigger picture comes with an understanding that work is not always near the home base so he willingly obliges his hosts and gets on with the job. His technical skills have been described as exceptional, therefore he can work on tasks with limited supervision making him both a valuable and productive employee. Nathan has proven that one can excel in an apprenticeship and at the same time lend a hand to other more junior apprentices to help them get to a stage where they feel comfortable. Already leading the next generation of apprentices through the system by sharing his skills and experiences, Nathan will surely excel as a 2009 Group Training Ambassador.
