The Today’s Skills: Tomorrow’s Leaders (TSTL) program - a week-long career development initiative brings together 20 of Australia’s outstanding apprentices and trainees who have been selected from approximately 40,000 group training apprentices and trainees.

The apprentices are employed by group training organisations and are regarded as emerging leaders in their chosen fields.  They are completing apprenticeships and traineeships in industries including engineering, information technology, hospitality, automotive, plumbing, electrotechnology, bricklaying, construction and business.

The TSTL program is conducted on campus at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) and provides for an intense week of leadership training under the expert eye of Ian Hutchinson of Life by Design.

During the week, the apprentices and trainees will visit Parliament House to discuss a range of issues affecting Australia’s skills development with senior Federal Government ministers, shadow ministers and MPs.

The group will meet with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Education, Employment and Workplace Relations, Julia Gillard, Leader of the Opposition, Malcolm Turnbull, Minister for Employment Participation, Senator Mark Arbib, Minister for Housing and Minister for the Status of Women, Tanya Plibersek, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Jason Clare, and Shadow Minister for Employment Participation, Training and Sport, Dr Andrew Southcott.
