GTNT also offers a number of non-accredited courses. Non-accredited courses do not contribute to a nationally recognised qualification and are designed to assist with personal and workforce development by sharing knowledge through workshops on current industry practices and ideals.

Responsible Service of Alcohol

Any person involved in the service of alcohol in the Northern Territory must have a Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.

This course applies to all levels of sales personnel involved in the sale, service and promotional service of alcohol in licensed premises. Those selling or serving alcohol may include food and beverage attendants; packaged liquor salesperson selling in person, over the phone or online; winery, brewery and distillery cellar door staff; and supplier sales representatives.

The unit also applies to security staff who monitor customer behaviour and to the licensee who is ultimately responsible for responsible service of alcohol (RSA) management.

Eligibility/entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Length of course: This course will take 4 hours plus assessment to complete

Type of course

This is an accredited course ‘SITHFAB002 - Provide responsible service of alcohol’. 

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can be credited towards a Certificate II or III Hospitality.

The cost of this course is $49.00 per student.

Food Safety Course

This course is for people handling food in a cafe, restaurant, school canteen, hotel, supermarkets, fast food outlet, sandwich shop, catering operations or other food retail outlets, under supervision.   

You will learn how to apply good hygiene practices within a wide range of service industry operations. You will also learn how to follow procedures, including identifying and controlling various hazards in the workplace – so you, customers and work colleagues are not exposed to preventable health risks.

Eligibility/entry requirements: There are no entry requirements for this qualification.
Length of course: This course will take 4 hours plus assessment to complete

This is an accredited course ‘SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety’.

On successful completion of this course, you will receive a Statement of Attainment which can be credited towards a Certificate II or III Hospitality.
