About Us

History

Group Training NT commenced trading as a not-for-profit company in 1989. Its main aim was to increase the numbers of Apprentices in training in the Top End and to improve the quality of training provided. This would occur by employing Apprentices and hosting them with employers, especially small to medium employers with limited capacity to recruit and train Apprentices in their own right. The company took on the Central Australian Region in 1996 when the local regional company ceased training.

The Present

GTNT has grown to be the largest employer of Apprentices and Trainees in the Northern Territory. The Company also has a range of tailored training support arrangements in place with major Northern Territory employers in the private and public sectors. The Company has extended it's role to incorporate new business arms including the Australian Apprenticeship NT and a Registered Training Organisation with specific strategies aimed at increasing the number of Indigenous Young Territorians in Australian Apprenticeships and implementing Australian School Based Apprenticeships. The Board of Group Training NT is drawn from community leaders in business, community and union sectors.

GTNT has also begun to develop complete workforce development initiatives, aimed at assisting organisations attract & retain staff and help develop their business, industry and/or region.

The Future

GTNT will play a major role in developing the skills required to meet the demands of a dynamic economy and community. We will work in partnership with government, business and the community to develop innovative approaches to the development of young Territorians to meet the challenges of the future.

Key Functions

Complete Apprentice Managment & Mentoring

We recruit quality Apprentices and Trainees and place them with host employers providing an extensive mentor support service to maximise the potential of each new Apprentices and Trainees. We provide payroll and administrative support. Tailored Apprenticeship and Traineeship training support services for large and small employers are a feature of GTNT.

Training Services

Training Plus is a quality endorsed Registered Training Organisation with the capacity to provide flexible training services. Training GTNT manages the training of the Northern Territory Government Trainees and a range of other training assignments, specialising in Business Administration, Information technology and Retail sectors.
