GTNT is committed to a policy of improving employment outcomes for the Indigenous community in the Northern Territory. We offer a one-stop-shop from recruitment through to training and work placement for entry level Apprenticeships (Apprenticeships and Traineeships).

We provide:

An Indigenous Employment and Training Consultancy Service

  • We supply expert advice and direction in education and training
  • We develop specific industry suited strategies
  • We work closely with business in Communities

The Indigenous Employment and Training Consultant (IETC)

Develops strategies and options to improve the retention, participation and successful completion of apprenticeships by Indigenous Australians. The IETC works with host employers and staff within the company to develop their corporate capacity to understand this client group and to develop more inclusive work practices to improve the Indigenous apprentices' confidence and competence in this context. Culturally appropriate individual and group mentoring is also provided on a regular and needs basis.

A specialist Indigenous Unit

  • We provide culturally appropriate mentor support;
  • We tailor the support to achieve successful outcomes;
  • We liaise with key industry sectors to maximise all available support services (e.g. STEP)

A Tailored Service

  • We aim to meet the needs of remote communities and organisations
  • We service regional areas
  • We cover the private, public and community sector in urban centres

Remote Indigenous Students & School Based Apprenticeships

Offers an alternative Education and Vocational Career Pathway

  • Assists with the transition from school to work in the urban and/or the regional and remote areas. Students will gain skills that are transferable to remote employment opportunities
  • The students gain their formal education, essential skills, and a recognised Training Qualification through a School Based Apprenticeship
  • Provides a career pathway while they are attending school and upon return to their home community/regions 
  • The Apprentice is mentored, supported and their training monitored throughout the duration of their apprenticeship
  • Group Training Northern Territory is committed to Indigenous students successfully completing their School Based Apprenticeship.

Our experienced Field Officers closely monitor progress and provide support to the Employer and the Apprentice or Trainee to make this valuable employment experience a success.
