  • Through monthly mentoring programs, GTNT aim to have course completion rates at over 80%.

What is an Apprenticeship & Traineeship?
Combining training with paid employment, apprenticeships and traineeships offer recognised qualifications in over 500 occupations.

What's the difference between an Apprenticeship & Traineeship?
Apprenticeships generally last three to four years and cover traditional trades. Traineeships cover a wider range of occupations; however the training is usually between one and two years.

What Industries can I do an Apprenticeship/Traineeship in?
GTNT is active in most industries – automotive, construction, electrical, plumbing, engineering, horticulture, community services, retail, hospitality, business administration and more.

What is the GTNT Recruitment process?
Throughout the year, GTNT attend school's right across the Northern Territory and conduct school career expos and school presentation's to assist students with future career options and job pathways. GTNT also conduct Parent/Student Information nights with the same aims.

  • Step 1: Complete an online application and upload your current resume and cover letter.
  • Step 2: You will receive a confirmation email from recruitment.
  • Step 3: You will then be contacted by recruitment within 48hours to arrange aptitude testing and an interview.
  • Step 4: Once aptitude testing and interview has been completed recruitment will review your application and if found suitable reference checks will be conducted.
  • Step 5: Pending positive reference check recruitment will refer your application to the host employer.
  • Step 6: Host employer will advise if they wish to proceed to a face to face interview with the applicant.
  • Step 7: Recruitment will contact short listed applicants to arrange an interview and assist applicant with interview preparation, this is when you will be notified who the host employer is.
  • Step 8: Host employer will advise recruitment on the successful applicant.
  • Step 9: Recruitment will contact successful applicant to advise they are successful.
  • Step 10: Apprenticeships plus will then be in contact with the successful applicant to arrange a sign up.
  • Step 11: Recruitment will contact all unsuccessful applicants to advise of the outcome and to provide feedback.

  • You may be able to start a School-based Apprenticeship while you are still at school.
  • School-based Apprenticeships enable you to gain a vocational and technical qualification while completing your school studies.
  • Your career advisers and teachers will know if you are able to undertake an Apprenticeship while you are studying and can assist you in choosing the most suitable subjects.
  • School-based Apprenticeships are a great career option for students in Year 11 and Year 12.

What are my Responsibilities when I take on an Apprentice/Trainee?

  • Go through the induction information with the GTNT and the apprentice or trainee.
  • Work with GTNT to ensure that:
    • the workplace has the range of work and facilities required for your training.
    • there is an acceptable number of tradespeople or qualified persons in the workplace.
    • you will be adequately supervised when you are in the workplace.
    • work with your apprentice or trainee and GTNT to draw up the training plan.
    • deliver training to your apprentice or trainee as required in the training plan.
    • ensure your apprentice or trainee is adequately supervised in the workplace.
    • carry out an induction and all other obligations required of an employer, including those related to safety and fair treatment
    • release your apprentice or trainee from work duties to participate in training delivered by the supervising registered training organisation, as outlined in the training plan

Who can use GTNT?

If I use GTNT do I still receive the Government incentive payments for taking on an Apprentice or Trainee?

  • Yes. You still receive the benefit of Australian Federal Government incentive payments. GTNT will either pass these incentive payments directly on to Host Business, by offsetting your GTNT account. 

Who monitors the Apprentice or Trainee’s training progress?

  • GTNT's Employment Specialists work with apprentices and trainees to monitor their learning progress. They ensure the apprentice or trainee is on track to complete their qualification and is developing the skills needed to be successful in the workplace.

Is Group Training an affordable option?
