In 2013, Kathryn won the Telstra Business Woman’s Award in Community and Government and is passionate about strengthening and growing the capability and responsiveness of the employment, education and training sectors in ways that improve sustainability and equity outcomes.
Kathryn is a Director of the Apprentice Employment Network QLD & NT and also of the National Australian Apprenticeships Association. 

The National Apprentice Employment Network is the peak association representing around 150 Group Training Organisations located throughout Australia. Collectively the network employs around 30,000 apprentices and trainees and works with over 100,000 businesses. Through her involvement with the association and passion to see people achieve, Kathryn has developed strong relationships with organisations throughout Australia enabling GTNT to benefit from the economy of scale the network provides with direct links to the Northern Territory and Australian Governments.

In March 2017, Kathryn became a Director of the Australian Council for Private Education and Training (ACPET) Board representing the Northern Territory, assuming the role of Chairperson for the NT ACPET committee.
In addition to local and national Boards and Associations Kathryn is engaged with, she is also the Chairman and CEO of the Australian Skills Institute which works in close association with a range of educational institutions in the Philippines providing Australian qualifications through a skills enhancement model. Under Kathryn’s stewardship, the Australian Skills Institute is actively working with the Northern Territory Government to promote and grow vocational education and training in the Philippines and the ASEAN region.

Lisa Dodds

Australian Apprenticeships Support Network Manager

Lisa joined Top End Group Training in 2000.  Lisa originally commenced as the Front Office Manager and moved quickly into the role of Field Officer with the Australian Apprenticeships Centre.  She managed a caseload of Apprentices and Trainees, advising on all matters of the Apprenticeships system. She consulted with various organisations and Government Departments to identify community need and supported both Apprentices and Employers in utilizing the system to upskill and grow their capacity.

In this time, Lisa also held the role of Recruitment & Marketing Manager with GTNT, where she established a platform to provide advice, support and strategic direction regarding business maintenance, growth, development and improvement, marketing and Indigenous employment & training across the company. Lisa’s focus, in which she was successful, was to increase Apprentice commencements in the Northern Territory.

Lisa’s Management and Leadership skills and strategic focus allowed her to move into the role of Assistant Manager for Client Services with Australian Apprenticeships NT. Quickly moving into the role of Operations Manager, managing team of up to 23 staff and ensuring compliance is meet as per AASS contractual requirements. Lisa is now the Northern Territory, Manager of Australian Apprenticeships NT managing the AASN contract requirements. She provides support, guidance and supervision to the staff in the Darwin, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs offices.



Amelia Seipel 

Employment Services Manager

Amelia has over 20 years’ experience within the Vocational Education & Training (VET) Industry and Group Training Services Industry, both operationally and strategically. Amelia commenced with GTNT in 2010, was appointed as the Manager of the Australian Apprenticeships NT in 2012, before returning as the GTNT Employment Services Manager.

Responsible for the overall management in relation to the delivery of a specific service or group of services her responsibilities include: Achievement of the company’s service delivery goals through the apprenticeship systems, workforce development, remote services, Financial management; ensuring that the company’s financial objectives with the service or group of services are attained, Day to day co-ordination of associated operational and support of Employment Services staff in all GTNT offices across the Northern Territory & Represent and liaise with government, industry groups, unions, community groups, individuals and others to promote the company’s platforms and goals in order to stimulate growth and development.

Amelia holds her Certificate IV in Employment Services along with Diploma of Management.


Lynda Townsend

Lynda is responsible for the overall financial management of GTNT. Lynda Townsend has 27 years experience in business services and taxation and commenced working with GTNT as a member of the Board of Directors and remained in that position for 5 years before taking the position of CFO.

Lynda’s 16 years experience with KPMG as a Senior Manager provided her with the necessary skills to ensure successful financial outcomes and best practice reporting. Lynda has a Bachelor Degree in Commerce, majoring in Accounting, and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants. 


Poppy Darkadakis

Human Resources Manager

Poppy Darkadakis has over 13 years in the VET industry with 11 years at GTNT. Poppy has worked with the Human Resources division of GTNT for 10 years and has extensive experience with industrial and employment relations, employee engagement and workforce development and is responsible for the overall management of Human Resources, Quality Management System and IT Support for GTNT.

As the Human Resources Manager, Poppy manages a team of two which is inclusive of Quality, IT and staff WHS. Poppy ensures that GTNT is compliant in accordance with the Work Health and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Act, Fair Work Act and Workplace Gender Equality Act and other relevant legislation. 

Poppy holds the following qualifications

  • Management Certificate IV in Frontline Management

Business Enterprise Manager

Rod Cryer

Business Enterprise Manager

Rod has held executive positions in the Northern Territory Government and has made major contributions to the Vocational Education and Training sector through his 17 year career with government. 

Rod joined our team in late April as the Business Enterprise Manager under a secondment agreement with the NT Department of Trade, Business and Innovation to support the development and introduction of NT Government initiatives to support apprentices, trainees and their employers. Rod officially joined the GTNT team on a full time basis as Business Enterprise Manager in January 2018.

Rod comes to GTNT with more than 25 years’ experience in vocational education and training across the private and public sector. Over the past 17 years Rod has fulfilled a variety of strategic and operational roles within the vocational training area for the Northern Territory Government covering RTO regulation, course accreditation, Training Package development and implementation, apprenticeship and traineeship regulation, registration of group training organisations, program design and the allocation and management of funding for vocational training across a range of programs for both public and private training providers.  

Through his positions with the Northern Territory Government, Rod has represented the Territory at a national level on a number of high level reference and working groups responsible for informing national policy and direction for the vocational training sector but more recently as it related to the national harmonisation agenda for apprenticeships and traineeships and the development and introduction of the Australian Apprenticeship Support Network model nationally.
Rod is also currently overseeing the operation of GTNT’s RTO, GTNT Training Plus and is responsible for the ongoing compliance of the RTO’s operations, identifying and developing opportunities for business growth and the achievement of all key contractual requirements, ensuring their financial viability and the ongoing sustainability of the business.

Rod’s extensive experience and knowledge will directly support GTNT’s opportunities to increase apprentice and trainee numbers throughout the Territory.


Brooke Hyatt

Executive Assistant

Brooke joined GTNT as the Executive Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer in October 2016 and is responsible for providing professional and confidential secretarial and administrative support. Prior to commencing in this position, Brooke was employed by the Australian Apprenticeships NT as a Support Network Officer and was is responsible for conducting sign-ups and field visits of Apprentices and their Employers in line with the Australian Apprenticeships Support Network Contract.   



Sherryn Killmister

Acting Employment Services Coordinator    

Sherryn commenced her employment in September 2013, as the Employment Solutions Coordinator. She is responsible for the efficient management and delivery of GTNT apprentice recruitment services as well as internal and client driven workforce development strategies and implementation, in line with company policies and procedures. Currently she is the Acting Employment Services Coordinator and is responsible to oversee and manage the day to day operations of Employment Services team including administration, field operations, recruitment and sales staff. Assuring adherence to all company policies, KPIs, accountability, customer service excellence, company values and GTO standards.

Sherryn provides expert, professional advice and leadership to GTNT Staff in the development, implementation and review of the GTNT training and development directions to ensure that all workforce development strategies are part of a planned program and are designed to address the company’s current and future needs.

Sherryn has also taken on the Employment Services Coordinator role recently, to assist the Employment Services Manager while Amelia is on maternity leave.

Sherryn’s background is primarily in the Childcare Industry and Employment Services. She holds her Certificate IV in Employment Services, Certificate IV in Leadership & Management along with her Diploma in Community Services (Children’s Services). 


Alisha Hurn

Project Coordinator

Commencing with GTNT in February 2007 in our Alice Springs Office as the Front Office Receptionist, Alisha has grown with the company and is now our Project Coordinator. Alisha is responsible for overseeing all major contracts and projects under our Employment Services division, ensuring contract compliance is met. Alisha is also responsible for the companies marketing, promotions and event management.

She provides support to the Employment Services Coordinator with the day to day operations of Employment Services department. In addition, Alisha also manages the company’s Marketing and Promotions, including organising our annual events.

Alisha holds her Certificate IV Training & Assessment, Certificate IV in Employment Services and is currently studying her Diploma of Event Management and Diploma of Leadership and Management.


Jade Turnbull

Jade commenced with GTNT in July 2017. In her role as the Human Resources Coordinator, Jade will be providing a variety of different Human Resource functions from Recruitment, Professional Development, Work Health and Safety and general HR matters

Jade is responsible for providing professional and confidential generalist Human Resource services to Managers and Employees, and is responsible for the efficient and effective communication in relation to HR matters. She also provides administrative support to the Human Resources Manager. She holds her Certificate IV in Human Resources. 


Kellie Walker

Kellie commenced with GTNT in the role of Training Coordinator in April 2018 and is responsible for overseeing the training provided by GTNT Training Plus, GTNT's registered Training Organisation and ensuring continuous improvement of its operation.

Kellie has 25 years experience within the Hospitality industry, moving into hospitality training in 2010. Kellie worked hard to obtain her Advanced Diploma in Hospitality, and become a Training Manager in 2013 with a local registered training organisation provider catering for domestic and international students. 

Kellie holds the following qualifications - Advanced Diploma of Hospitality, Diploma of Management, Certificate IV Training and Assessment and Diploma of Education Support.

Emma commenced her employment with GTNT in April 2011 after deciding she needed to move into a role that allowed her to pursue her interest in mentoring, training and staff development. This interest developed whilst completing her own traineeship and experiencing firsthand the benefits of the GTO model.

Emma is accountable for ensuring the Group Training Company services are responsive, qualitative, and cost effective in meeting the demands of Northern Territory Industry and Australian Apprentices. In her current role of Employment Specialist, Emma manages a varied caseload of apprentices in the Darwin region. Including a number of major contracts and the specific requirements that come with them.

Emma’s background experience was primarily within the Aviation Industry. Emma started her Aviation career by completing a Certificate III in Business, as a Trainee managed by a Group Training Organisation. Emma progressed through her Traineeship at a very fast pace, which resulted in the opportunity to move into other challenging roles. Emma held a variety of roles in the Aviation industry, from junior customer service through to Senior Management over the 8 years.

Emma holds her Certificate IV in Employment Services, Diploma of Management, and Diploma in Human Resources.

Jess commenced her employment with GTNT in September 2012. Jess is currently employed by GTNT as an Employment Specialists in the Southern Region and is the Employment Specialist based in Alice Springs and services the remote communities in the Southern Region.

Tracy Beesley

Tracy commenced with GTNT in January 2018 as an Employment Specialist. In her role, Tracy manages a varied caseload of Apprentices and Trainees in the Darwin and Jabiru Regions, including a number of major contracts. Tracy is accountable for ensuring the Group Training Company services are responsive, qualitative, and cost effective in meeting the demands of Northern Territory Industry and Australian Apprentices.

Tracy has over 15 years of experience in the employment services industry. Previously she was the Rise Business Manager – West Arnhem Region and Work for the Dole Coordinator and prior to that was Work for the Dole Coordinator with Max Solutions.

She is dedicated and passionate about helping people achieve their best and working with key stakeholders to develop remote communities. Tracy is particularly focused on developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external business partners, government agencies, industry bodies, major employers, community and other key stakeholders. Tracy has worked for numerous Australian Apprentices Support Services such as State Training Services, HVTC and NSW Business Chambers, providing her with knowledge of the employment services industry. Tracy holds her Diploma in Project Management and a Certificate IV in Frontline Management.


Cameron Stokes

Cameron commenced with GTNT in June 2017. In his role as an employment Specialist, Cameron manages a varied caseload of Apprentices and Trainees in the Darwin and East Arnhem Regions, including a number of major contracts. Cameron is accountable for ensuring the Group Training Company services are responsive, qualitative, and cost effective in meeting the demands of Northern Territory Industry and Australian Apprentices.

Prior to GTNT, Cameron was a professional football player for the Hawthorn AFL Club, and he worked within the Construction Industry. Cameron is a mentor for young men through football in the NT and holds a Diploma in Education Support.

WHSE & Projects Officer    

Shaun Stenson

WHSE & Projects Officer    

Shaun has 35 years’ experience in the electrical industry covering three States and Territories. This includes Victoria, Queensland and Northern Territory with exposure working directly with Power and Water.
All previous positions included a high level of safety management, with experience in managing 120 employees safety requirements. Shaun has a passion for safety and is driven to continuously improving practices to ensure a safe work environment for all GTNT employees.

Shaun is responsible for the overall safety within GTNT and his responsibilities include  the development, implementation and monitoring of the Work Health and Safety systems in line with company strategies and National Legislation, increasing the awareness and actively promote work health and safety, conducting hazard and risk assessments and recommending appropriate action, investigating workplace incidents, near misses and hazards to determine causes, implement preventative measures and initiate required corrective actions, maintaining workers compensation obligations and develop active strategies to facilitate the return to work for employees & providing information and advice to staff on all WHS matters.

Shaun holds his Diploma of Frontline Management and Diploma of Project Management.


Kate Roberts

Client Projects Officer    

Born and raised in Darwin, Kates’s background is primarily within the Vocational Education and Training sector having worked for Australian Apprenticeship NT for over six years. Kate joined the GTNT team in 2014 as a Client Support Officer servicing a number of the major contracts before progressing into the Client Projects Officer role with GTNT.

Kate is responsible for providing high level administrative support for projects at GTNT, which may also include the driving of initiatives to improve fundamental systems and processes within the company to help drive success.

Some of her duties include but not limited to ensure that contract obligations and service requirements of Host Employers and Apprentice documentation are met, facilitating reporting for all major contracts to meet with contract requirements, liaise with Manager Employment Services continuously to ensure contracts/conditions are up to date and monitoring and oversee Client Support Officers internal team’s workflow.

Kate holds her Certificate III in Business.


Kaitlin Chin

Kaitlin commenced employment with GTNT in November 2016 in her current role as a Client Support Officer. Since commencing with GTNT she has supported several Employment Specialists with Remote and Urban Caseloads. Kaitlin values GTNT clients and looks forward to assisting you with any enquiries you may have. Kaitlin has taken on higher duties recently and is acting in the Recruitment Officer role, responsible for the efficient delivery of GTNT Apprentice Recruitment Services, and ensuring a smooth recruitment flow. She will also contribute to the long term sustainable growth and workforce development of GTNT.

Born and raised in Darwin, Kaitlin’s previous employment is primarily within Administration and customer service. Upon completing year 12, Kaitlin entered full time employment as a receptionist and later progressed to the role of Conference Coordinator. From her personal upbringing and voluntary work within the Chinese Community in Darwin, along with her previous employment at an Aboriginal art gallery, Kaitlin has had a lot of exposure working with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. As well as working at GTNT, Kaitlin also works in hospitality and has since fourteen years old which is was when she first discovered her passion for customer service.

Di commenced at GTNT as a  Reception/Client Support  in  August  2012 and is our First Aid Officer and Chief Fire Warden in Southern Region Office. Background Diane’s background was in Retail and Office Administration. Di commenced with Australian Apprenticeship NT as a Reception/Administration Officer in February 2012.

Diane’s accountable for  ensuring  the  Group  Training  Company  services  are  responsive,  qualitative,  and  cost effective in meeting the demands of Northern Territory Industry and Australian Apprentices. Some of her duties included but not limited to:  

  • Reception duties, answering phones, faxes and emails in timely manner 
  • Data entry maintaining and updating apprentice/Trainees/Host Employers records in Navision in a timely manner.
  • Room hire, receive  and  process  bookings  for  training  room,  set  and  clean-up,  provide  assistants  as required, contact supplier for catering. 
  • Customer Service, deal with client’s relations, inquires and associated paperwork 
  • Provide quality service and advice to Employment Specialist, GTNT Apprentices and Host Employers 



Viv Gasson

Training Officer – Business

Viv become a qualified electrician and worked in factories and homes for 10 years before changing direction again. In 1992 Viv completed her first Certificate IV Training and Assessment and commenced adult training and administration for 2 of the largest Local Governments in South Australia.

In 2011 Viv taught at TAFESA for 4 years, facilitating Business Studies, Finance Studies, and various Core Units with Certificate I through to Certificate IV level students.  

Viv moved to Darwin, gaining a one year contract as an archivist and librarian for one of the NT’s most prestigious legal firms. During 2015, Viv joined the GTNT team as a Corporate Administration Support Officer for the General Manager and Human Resources Manager. Since then, Viv’s role has developed and diversified as she has also taken on the GTNT Human Resources Officer role, the IT Support role for GTNT and recently has returned “home” to her favourite role as Admin and Training officer for GTNT Training Plus.

Viv is now working within the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) as a Business Trainer.
