Patrick Lucchese worked within the telecommunications industry for many years and decided he needed to gain new skills and develop his existing skillset. This led him to pursue a career as a linesman with Power and Water Corporation. Patrick values the support from the tradesmen and enjoys being part of such a great team and working environment.
What impact did your studies/work have on your life?
Distribution Overhead has always been a great interest of mine. I thoroughly enjoy working in a fast paced, technical, and challenging environment.
I worked within the telecommunications industry for many years and gained a great amount of knowledge and experience. I felt the need to further expand and develop my skills in the workforce and this led me to pursue my career as a linesman.
I have many highlights from my apprenticeship so far. We often always attend emergency calls outs in the morning and night. Usually in these cases all staff need to act immediately dependent on the circumstances (sometimes life threatening). Everyone works safely together to ensure the job is completed in a timely manner whilst providing support on-the-job. The Support the tradesman provides me even in emergency situations goes above and beyond. It gives me great satisfaction to be part of such a support team and working environment.
There is only a small number of us that travelling to Perth to attend our Trade School Blocks with Energy Skills Solutions. I am very grateful for this. I feel like having a small class allows the lectures to spend more one-on-one time with us. This makes training and learning easy!
I frequently have discussions with family and friends about the impact of my apprenticeship. It’s by far the best thing I have ever done, and I could not recommend enough!
